What to bring
These help your optometrist understand your eyes, your health and your coverage.
- Your Ontario health card
- Your current glasses, including reading or computer glasses
- Your contact lenses or the lens boxes
- A list of the medications you take, including eye drops
- Your insurance details, if you have private or workplace coverage
What to expect at your first visit
Step 1: Book your exam
Choose an exam and a time online, or call us. Online bookings are requests: we contact you to confirm the time.
Step 2: Your eye exam
Your optometrist asks about your eyes and your health, checks your vision and examines your eyes. Eye drops may be used to widen your pupils.
Step 3: After your exam
Your optometrist explains the results, answers your questions and recommends when to come back. If you need glasses or contact lenses, you get a prescription.
Who pays for your exam
OHIP covers eye exams for some people, such as children and youth 19 and under and adults 65 and over. See who pays for eye exams.

How does booking online work?
Choose an exam, an optometrist (or any optometrist) and a time that suits you. This sends us a request, and we hold that time for you while we check our schedule.
We then contact you by text, email or phone to confirm. Your appointment is booked only when we confirm it. If no times suit you, you can still send a request, or call us at (519) 663-9292.

How do I change or cancel my appointment?
Use the link in your confirmation text or email to ask for a change or to cancel. If your appointment is soon, please call us at (519) 663-9292 instead.
